About me
Threads, materials and time: weaving as a story.
My name is Sofia, and Fili di Sofia grew out of a childhood passion that I rediscovered later in life, transforming my world and bringing the slow, mindful gesture of hand weaving to its very heart. Every piece takes shape from the meeting of colour, material and memory.
In my workshop, I design and create one-of-a-kind pieces and small collections, allowing the fibres and their textures to suggest the rhythm, combinations and form. What fascinates me most about weaving is precisely the possibility of creating and playing with the very structure of the fabric itself.
From thread to fabric
Weaving entered my life with extraordinary force and, over time, became a way of looking at the world. The loom demands attention: each step builds on the one before it, and even a small variation can change the character of the fabric.
I work between Tuscany and Lazio, places that find their way into my projects through colours, materials and inspiration. I am drawn to a contemporary form of craftsmanship that preserves the value of memory, personally reinterpreting textile traditions while continuing to explore, research and experiment.

A material-led exploration
I work exclusively with natural fibres, yarns with a story, and materials that age beautifully.
Wool, linen, cotton, and fine fibres such as cashmere, mohair, and silk are selected according to each project and combined through experimentation with structure, density, and contrasts.
Fili di Sofia is above all a place to meet. In the workshop, the work can be seen up close, explained and shared through demonstrations and moments devoted to discovering weaving.
